Home in Ohio

Home in Ohio is the OhioHealth Foundation's signature fundraising event, celebrating their partnership with their greatest supporters. It's held every two years, and generates funding for community health and wellness programs.

In 2018, I wrote the event copy, including the save the date, invitation, sponsorship letters and website. The creative was recognized by the Columbus Society of Communicating Arts with a Creative Best Award.

In 2020, I wrote theme concepts presented to leadership, the save the date and the sponsorship brochure. I also edited emails announcing the decision to postpone the event to 2022. In 2021, I participated in brainstorming for a new theme.

Building and bonding a network

During my time with The Medical Group of Ohio, I helped plan and execute numerous in-person and virtual events. The events provided our members with free opportunities to network and learn about changes in healthcare delivery and reimbursement.

We hosted two large annual events. The first – Educational Day – took place in the spring and was primarily attended by practice staff, though a dinner for physicians was held in the evening. The all-day event started with breakfast, had concurrent sessions throughout the day, and a keynote before lunch. Vendors and payers were invited to attend, so practices could talk with them between sessions about their contracts, offerings and preferred pricing. If practices completed a vendor card, they were also entered into a raffle for prizes at the end of the day. The event was typically attended by 150-200 people.

In the fall, we held a large physician networking event with dinner, a "status of the network" presentation from leadership. The physicians also requested icebreaker games that we connected to each event theme. Those who completed the exercise (and most did!) were entered into a raffle for a prize. The fall event was attended by 250-300 physicians. Throughout the year, multiple smaller networking dinners were held at restaurants and venues across the city, with up to 70 attendees at each.

We offered online webinars about a variety of topics, from payment models to customer service. Our team also held regular meetings with members to provide updates and education, and collect feedback on new tools or processes.

I participated in conceptualizing each event, developed the communications and marketing plans, and produced the event tactics, including direct mail, email, presentations, signs, slicks, surveys, and writing speeches for our chief executive officer. I attended the events to set up, ensured they ran smoothly, and often played the roles of IT and photographer as well.
